Psychiatric Evaluation & Diagnosis

Understanding the root of your symptoms is the first step to healing.

At Promised Hope PLLC, we begin with a thorough psychiatric evaluation designed to understand your unique experiences, history, and symptoms. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, mood changes, attention issues, or trauma-related symptoms, this assessment helps lay the foundation for your personalized treatment plan.

The Purpose of the Evaluation

This appointment helps:

  • Identify the root causes of your emotional or mental health challenges
  • Clarify whether a mental health diagnosis is appropriate
  • Determine whether medication, therapy, lifestyle changes, or spiritual support may be helpful
  • Build a personalized treatment plan with you—not for you

What to Expect

Your initial evaluation is conducted via secure telehealth in a private, supportive setting. The session typically lasts 50 to 60 minutes and includes:

  • A full review of your mental health history
  • Discussion of current symptoms and concerns (what’s happening, when it started, how it affects your life)
  • Review of past treatments and medication history
  • Medical, emotional, and family history
  • Strengths, goals, and personal values
  • Assessment of lifestyle factors (sleep, diet, stress, substance use)
  • Optional integration of faith or spirituality into care planning
  • Diagnostic impressions and education
  • Treatment recommendations (e.g., medication, therapy, labs, referrals)
  • Any questions or concerns you have
  • The next steps and follow-up schedule

Why Diagnosis Matters

Many people live with mental health conditions for years before receiving a proper diagnosis.

A clear understanding of what you’re experiencing can help:

  • Provide relief by naming what’s happening
  • Guide effective treatment and medication options
  • Help you understand patterns and triggers
  • Improve communication with loved ones or other providers
  • Empower you with clarity and a plan

Common Conditions We Assess

  • Anxiety disorders (GAD, panic disorder, social anxiety)
  • Major depressive disorder and mood instability
  • Bipolar disorder (Type I and II)
  • ADHD in children and adults
  • PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
  • Obsessive-compulsive features
  • Adjustment disorders, stress-related issues, and grief

For clients who desire it, we offer a space to explore how your faith, identity, and life purpose intersect with your mental health journey. Our goal is to treat the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

You’re Not Alone

Taking this step can feel overwhelming—but it’s the beginning of something new. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, sadness, stress, or something you can’t yet name, your evaluation is the start of understanding what’s going on and how to get support.
